About Guide Right

The Krimson community Foundations mentoring program offers tuition-free year round support for young men in Metro Atlanta, focusing on academic achievement, personal growth, and career exploration. Designed for students from low-income families, the program covers topics like leadership, conflict resolution, financial literacy. and community involvement.

Through guidance from dedicated mentors, participants gain the skills and confidence needed for college, career, and life success. Our mission is to prepare every young man lo thrive beyond the classroom.

Mentoring Program (Rising 4-8 graders)

Our mentoring program begins in elementary school and
takes a holistic approach to developing both academic and
character-building skills. Held one Saturday per month for
four hours, the program provides a dynamic learning
environment focused on:

  • Tutorials: Language arts, math, science, and social studies
    support.
  • Enrichments: Hands-on classes in photography, coding.
    public speaking, and science.
  • Field Trips: Visits to colleges, businesses, museums, and
    more to connect classroom lessons to real life.
  • Character Development: Workshops on values, study
    habits, goal-setting, and social skills.
  • Community Activities: Opportunities to participate in food and clothing drives.

High School Mentoring Program (Rising 9-12)

Our Guide Right program supports high school students as
they prepare for college and beyond. Held twice a month
from September through April, the program focuses on test prep, leadership, college readiness, and personal
development-with a clear goal: college admission and
graduation.

  • Small Group Workshops: Engage directly with college recruiters in intimate settings that deepen understanding and enhance learning.
  • Individual College Counseling: One-on-one sessions to help students identify and apply to colleges that best fit their goals and strengths.
  • Financial Aid Counseling: Clear guidance on navigating scholarships, grants, and student loans to minimize college debt.
  • Free Resources & Discounts: Access to discounted SAT/ACT prep, weekly scholarship bulletins, and pre-college summer opportunities.
  • Scholarships & College Exposure: Students can attend college fairs and apply for exclusive scholarships. Past graduates have gone on to attend institutions such as Morehouse, North Carolina A&T, Tennessee State, and Fisk University.

Our Successes

Since 2001, the Guide Right Program has significantly impacted the lives of
students by enhancing them academically, socially and culturally:

  • 80% of our high school seniors were admitted to an accredited college,
    university, or technical school.
  • After having enrolled in our program we have found that 75% of our students
    ranked in the top 40% of their high school class.
  • When tested we found that 70% of our seniors scored a 22 or higher on the
    ACT exam which is slightly higher than the national average.
  • By graduation 75% of our students made honor roll with a GPA of 3.0 or
    higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • 70% of our seniors received full or partial academic scholarships to college.
